DEFEATING the purpose of choosing a smartphone OS

As people move away from the desktop and laptops - everytime you search on YELP on your phone is one less search on google.com - yes, Google might still sell-giveaway the unlying API link - to the consumer, the brand is diluted because you believe YELP is providing the info your crave (not counting the info portion of your search, just the DIRECTIONS TO HERE portion). Search becomes like the Yellow pages - useful but BRAND VALUELESS. You grow less and less amazed there is a detailed and perhaps even augmented reality like map to your destination and simply your Apple-God granted like right :-) ...

the problem with Android is it does very little to brand Google because NO TWO ANDROID PHONES look or operate the same even from the same manufacturer! Whether you blame Google's 20-year learning curve on UI or the telcos skinning the OS, Android will never be considered a iOS tier OS because to the user, they have to RELEARN with every device they buy - DEFEATING the purpose of choosing a smartphone OS. Until Google fixes this MOST FUNDAMENTAL PROBLEM, it's 21 century Symbian - something but to the consumer, it might as well be called hamburger because it's a meat patty with bread but different everytime. Unlike Apple, a company that understands. They might add some features to the iOS but if use ONE you can use an Ipod Touch and an iPad

Until Google fixes this MOST FUNDAMENTAL PROBLEM, it's 21 century Symbian"
From what I've read, the android license doesn't give Google any power to do this. They can't force the manufacturers/carriers to do anything and the manufacturers/carriers have their own needs/agendas that may not even include Google or its search. So, Symbian is a good example
